Zaheeb Ajmal reports:
2 p.m.: I am at Harish’s house. It has now become slightly warmer, so he is clad in a vest, sweater and loin-cloth. Harish informs me that his son Shailendra has gone to the neighbouring village for some work, but is not sure what the exact purpose is. He is more concerned about securing a PDS card for his family. The ward member, who represented this locality in the Gram Panchayat, has not yet allocated one to him, and Harish is uncertain about the process.
2:30 p.m.: Shanti Rishi, Harish’s sister-in-law and Pradeep’s wife, informs me that her account is operational now. It took nearly six months for entire process, so she feels elated.
